VP of Finance – Renewables (M&A, Project Finance, Tax Equity)
Location: U.S. - Hybrid

Position Overview:

Our client, a leader in the renewable energy industry with nearly 1GW in operation and more in the pipeline, is seeking an experienced VP of Finance to lead their financial strategy, focusing on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), project finance, and tax equity structuring. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in renewable energy financing, specifically in structuring complex financial transactions that support the growth of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all financial aspects related to M&A activities, including deal structuring, due diligence, valuation, and negotiations for renewable energy projects.

  • Oversee project finance efforts, including securing capital, managing lender relationships, and ensuring compliance with financing agreements.

  • Structure and execute tax equity financing for renewable energy projects to optimize project returns and secure favorable terms.

  • Collaborate with the executive team to support strategic financial planning, ensuring alignment with company growth objectives in the renewable energy space.

  • Manage financial models, forecasts, and risk assessments for current and future projects, ensuring accurate reporting and analysis.

  • Provide financial oversight for large-scale renewable energy projects, including the evaluation of financial performance, investment opportunities, and risk management.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, financial institutions, and tax equity partners to secure funding and enhance financial positioning.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and tax policies relevant to renewable energy financing.

  • Support the execution of corporate development initiatives and provide recommendations for improving the company’s financial performance.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance experience, with a focus on M&A, project finance, and tax equity in the renewable energy sector.

  • Proven track record in successfully closing M&A deals and securing project financing for large-scale renewable energy projects.

  • In-depth understanding of tax equity structures and their application in the U.S. renewable energy market.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and external relationships with financial institutions and investors.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CFA is highly desirable.
