Own the HV scope for utility-scale PV projects: 132 kV AIS/GIS substations, step-up transformers, protection & control, and line interfaces—through design reviews, field execution, commissioning/energization, and handover.
Key responsibilities
Lead HV scope from design through COD: single-line & protection philosophies, ITPs, FAT/SAT plans, and commissioning procedures.
Manage EPC/OEM/contractor deliverables for 132 kV GIS/AIS, power transformers, MV switchgear, cabling, earthing, telecoms, and control.
Plan and execute grid compliance testing and energizations (schemes/relay settings, primary/secondary injection, interlocks, CT/VT tests).
Coordinate transmission line interfaces (ROW, foundations, stringing, OPGW, line protection, live-line cutovers where applicable).
Oversee SCADA/EMS/PPC integration and telemetry (point lists, alarms, historian tags) with utilities and the owner’s OT teams.
Drive HSE leadership (PTW/LOTO, SIMOPS) and quality (ITPs, punch closure) to Mechanical Completion → PAC/FAC.
Control schedule/cost for HV deliverables; manage variations and claims with Contracts/Commercial.
Report weekly/monthly progress, risks, and readiness to steering leadership and independent reviewers.
Candidate profile (must-haves)
8–12+ years on HV substations/transmission (≥132 kV) with at least one utility-scale PV or grid-connected renewable project delivered.
Hands-on with protection & control (SEL/Siemens/GE), primary/secondary injection, and energization planning.
Comfortable leading utilities/EPCs to first-time pass on grid compliance.
Degree in Electrical/Power Engineering; HV switching/commissioning certifications a plus.
Clear English reporting; Arabic helpful.
Nice to have
Iraq/GCC experience; familiarity with local permitting and site mobilization.
Experience with dynamic/EMT study coordination (PSS®E/PowerFactory/ETAP) and BESS/PPC interfaces.
Location, schedule & conditions
Frequent site travel (central/southern Iraq).
Rotation 28/28 or resident (negotiable). Secure accommodation/transport provided; H2S/BA, medicals required.
