You’ll lead commissioning & testing for HV/MV/LV electrical systems on a large utility-scale energy project in Basra—covering substations, MV distribution, transformers, protection, and SCADA interfaces—through mechanical completion, energization, PAC/FAC, and handover to operations.
Key responsibilities
Plan and execute commissioning for HV/MV/LV systems: pre-energization checks, IR/PI, contact resistance, CT/VT polarity & ratio, protection relay configuration, and functional tests.
Lead energization windows with clear switching plans, and method statements; coordinate with operations for SIMOPS.
Own protection & control verification: scheme checks, settings, interlocks, and trip logic; witness FAT/SAT as needed.
Oversee testing of transformers, switchgear, UPS, earthing/lighting, and emergency power; sign ITPs and punch lists to MC/Subsystem handover.
Coordinate with EPC, OEMs, and construction for walkdowns, redlines, and deficiency clearance; manage as-built data and O&M packs.
Interface with controls/telecoms for SCADA/EMS point lists, alarms, historian tags, and handshake tests.
Drive quality & safety: ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE, site HSE procedures, and permit-to-work.
Produce daily/weekly commissioning reports, progress curves, and risk/mitigation updates.
Candidate profile
7–10+ years in electrical commissioning & testing on large power/industrial or utility projects (onshore).
Hands-on with HV/MV: primary/secondary injection, relay settings (e.g., SEL/Siemens/GE), and substation commissioning (AIS/GIS).
Comfortable leading energizations in live brownfield/greenfield environments.
Degree/Diploma in Electrical/Power Engineering; relevant certifications (HV switching, relay testing) are a plus.
Strong English reporting; Arabic helpful.
